Portraits

We will choose a location together to best fit your needs and wants for your photos. I have a list of different places that I will show you, but you are welcome to choose a location on your own. I’m always up to photographing at new places! I prefer to shoot in evening light right before sunset.

If you’re worried about being awkward in front of the camera, don’t worry! I promise to make this experience as fun as possible. Expect to run around, dance a little, and laugh a lot! There will be a couple of posed shots, but most of them will be candid to capture your genuine self.

I promise, you’re going to look

FAQs

  • Where are you located?

I live in Dayton, Texas. I travel within a 60 miles radius for sessions without an added travel fee.

  • What should I wear to my session?

I want your photos to reflect who YOU are. That means that I will never encourage you to go out and buy something outrageous for your session. You have the freedom to express yourself and your family however you desire.

But! If you want to know my opinion for what looks best, I’ll tell you something like this-

Wear something that is timeless. Think of something that won’t make you cringe when you look back on these photos in 20 years. (Lord knows I have some very cringe-worthy photos because I never knew how to dress myself before becoming a photographer.)

Neural colors are always a safe choice. Creams, beiges, tans, blacks, whites, greys, and light blues photograph very well. Think about the mood you want in your photos. If you want something a little edgier, wear darker colors. If you want something bright and airy, wear lighter colors.

Patterns can be very distracting in photos. But they can work well in moderation! Avoid crazy, heavy patterns and think simple.

Dress up, or come casual! It’s all up to you and how you want your final images to look. If you’re still stumped on what to wear, browse through my galleries. My clients are always looking fantastic! Pinterest is also a great resource! Feel free to send me photos of your outfits before your session and I’ll always give my opinion!

If you’re still unsure, head on over to my session guides, I have an entire guide for what to wear.

  • Okay! I'm ready to book. What's next?

YAY!! I’m so excited to work with you. Head on over to the “Book Me” page on my site and send me an email with some details about what kind of session you’re wanting. From there, I’ll respond and get all of the information I need from you to set up your booking link. We will pick a date and location together. The booking link I send you will have a small questionnaire, a contract for you to sign, and your invoice. I require a $50 nonrefundable retainer for portrait sessions to book your date and you will be able to pay that via credit card through the booking link. Once the contract is signed and the retainer is paid, you are on my schedule! Your remaining balance will be due the day before your portrait session so all you have to do on session day is show up and look awesome!

  • I'm not very photogenic and I'm nervous in front of a camera. Will my photos look bad?

Absolutely not!! I promise to make this experience as fun as possible for you. I like my clients to move around a lot so I can get those genuine moments. There will be some posed photos, but most of the session will be very candid. I’ll do my best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed so that your photos will be perfect.

The best advice I can give you leading up to your session is to GET EXCITED! If you show up ready to be a supermodel, I promise you’ll have a great time.

  • How will I receive my photos?

You will receive all of your photos through an online gallery called Pixiset. There will be instructions on how to view and download your images. You will be able to download your photos onto your phone, computer/laptop, or iPad/tablet.

I have a two week turnaround time for portrait sessions. (But most of the time, I return them quicker than that)

Your gallery will be available for two weeks once it’s sent to you so I highly recommend downloading them as soon a you get them so you don’t forget about it. Due to limited space, there will be a $50 reuploading fee if you don’t download your photos before the gallery expires.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! DO NOT SCREENSHOT YOUR PHOTOS! I know it’s tempting because it doesn’t take as much time, but screenshotting your photos diminishes the quality of each image.

If you have any trouble downloading your images, please ask me for help and I’ll walk you through it. :)

  • Where should I get my photos printed?

Choosing the right printing lab is so important. Some are great, and some really just suck. It is so convenient to print through Walmart or Walgreens because they are quick and close to pickup. But these are not the best quality printers. Sometimes they do print well, but sometimes your prints can come out fuzzy. I personally order all my normal prints through Shutterfly. The quality is always great. MPix is also a great printing lab with great reviews. Yes, it’s a little more expensive and you have to be patient and wait for them to ship, but it’s worth it to have nice quality prints for the photos you have already invested in. If you are wanting wall art with your prints, Shutterfly also does a great job with canvases. Smallwood Home also makes BEAUTIFUL wall art prints with different framing options. There are certainly other printing labs to print from, these are just my suggestions.

No matter where you choose to print from, make sure you print preview and look out for a pesky “low resolution” icon. If you ever see some sort of warning icon when uploading your photos to a printing lab, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE email me or call me and let me help you fix it. Sometimes your photos may upload at the wrong resolution and I’d hate for you to end up with a bad print.

If you do fill your home with your beautiful new photos, please send me a picture of it. I would absolutely LOVE to see it! :)
